'(London Guardian) The conservative Republican who co-authored America’s Patriot Act is preparing to unveil bipartisan legislation that would dramatically curtail the domestic surveillance powers it gives to intelligence agencies.
Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner, who worked with president George W Bush to give more power to US intelligence agencies after the September 11 terrorist attacks, said the intelligence community had misused those powers by collecting telephone records on all Americans, and claimed it was time “to put their metadata program out of business”.
...a draft seen by the Guardian has four broad aims.
It seeks to limit the collection of phone records to known terrorist suspects; to end "secret laws" by making courts disclose surveillance policies; to create a special court advocate to represent privacy interests; and to allow companies to disclose how many requests for users' information they receive from the USA. The bill also tightens up language governing overseas surveillance to remove a loophole which it has been abused to target internet and email activities of Americans.'

Former US Treasury Official - President To Seize Total Power
No dictators please. Regardless of whether this happens, Obama and Bush "fixed the books" and illegally gave the POTUS too much power through B.S. and Executive orders. This is obviously NOT in our Constitution and therefore not legal, even if our wonderful Congress thinks that they passed a "law" saying so. For someone to believe or support this Executive power nonsense they must not be following their Constitutional oaths.

"The second possibility would be that President Obama, because of laws that are already on the books, would have the power to declare a ‘national catastrophe’ and simply assume the leadership of the government. This gets Congress and the courts out of the picture. At that point there are no limits on the power of the President if he calls for a ‘national catastrophe.’"

Til Death they do Part—The U.S. House
This is an excellent article by Paula Helton. I think the way out of the reelection habit is term limits for all congressmen. There are plenty of good people who would consider it an honor to be elected. The GOOOH (Get Out Of Our House) effort tried hard but was unsuccessful.

'It has become abundantly clear that most of our so-called “patriotic public servants” in D.C. run for office with the intention of staying until “death they do part”. They have no allegiance to the constituents they represent nor the Country. It’s all about power, corruption, ideology and greed, but We the People re-elect them every two years.'

Coup d’etat
This story by Paul Craig Roberts of the Patriot Act and its implementation under Bush and much worse under the criminal usurper dictator Obama is enough to make your skin crawl. People who remember America the way America used to be, where people came to be free, often in makeshift boats and rafts, now see some of our whistleblowers go to Russia, of all places, for asylum.

Post-Constitutional America: The Trap is Closing
We have been lied to and are being lied to again. Peter Farmer takes a close look at the ominous and insidious acts of our government under Bush and particularly Obama since 2009. Most people, especially us seniors, tend to forget what news events happened more than a few days ago, but when you see the list of events of a few recent years, the pattern and trend of those events jumps out at you.

In addition to being a clear violation of the Posse Comitatus Act – which prohibits the U.S. military from conducting combat operations on American soil – the NDAA effectively abolishes the constitutional right to due process. The term “covered persons” is sufficiently vague as to be meaningless and thereby can be stretched to accommodate whatever purpose the government desires.

Ron Paul Departs With ‘Our Constitution Has Failed’

'Rep. Ron Paul, the iconic libertarian congressman from Texas, has delivered what will most likely be his final address to Congress.
...
Throughout his speech, Paul questioned not only the fundamental health of America’s social compact, but specifics like fiat money, the power of the Federal Reserve, the PATRIOT Act, Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act modifications, undeclared war, the illegalization of medical marijuana, mandatory sentencing requirements for drug crimes, the illegalization of hemp, TSA searches, federal debt and borrowing, the White House’s authority to assassinate those it declares terrorists, the legalization of detaining U.S. citizens for national-security purposes, the political power of AIPAC, and the regulation of light bulbs and toilets in people’s homes.
For Paul, the list of grievances is long, and he might not have accomplished much in Congress: “In many ways, according to conventional wisdom, my off-and-on career in Congress, from 1976 to 2012, accomplished very little,” he said. “No named legislation, no named federal buildings or highways, thank goodness. In spite of my efforts, the government has grown exponentially, taxes remain excessive, and the prolific increase of incomprehensible regulations continues. Wars are constant and pursued without congressional declaration.”
...
“The number one responsibility for each of us is to change ourselves with hope that others will follow,” Paul said, urging an end to two motives that have hindered U.S. society: envy and intolerance.
“I have come to one firm conviction after these many years of trying to figure out the plain truth of things. The best chance for achieving peace and prosperity, for the maximum number of people worldwide, is to pursue the cause of liberty. If you find this to be a worthwhile message, spread it throughout the land.”'

Could 2012 be America's Last Presidential Election? by Michael Savage
Not to be an alarmist, but I still wonder about Obama’s plans for all those hollow point bullets the government just purchased, and so far all I have come up with is that they are to be used against US citizens who disagree with him, or who protest his deliberate wrecking of the US economy. Maybe some people don’t agree with the way the elections were fixed. The controlled news media will report the election as neck and neck, even if he is losing in a landslide of patriotism, while the electronic voting machines are rigged in his favor. If he wins the election, he may not declare martial law, but the laws are all there in the Patriot Act and his Executive Orders for him to do so if he loses the election or if he simply wants to. He continues to treat the Constitution as irrelevant and the Supreme Court does nothing. The Congress for the large part is a joke. Remember him reassuring Putin, the former KGB Secret Police Russian, that he would have more flexibility after the election. I may be wrong, and I hope I am, but I see an Obama dictatorship in the very near future.
What follows is Michael Savage’s assessment. Thanks Stewart for the article.

“Remember Obama did not grow up being taught the same values as most of the readers of this email and most people in America so why would one think he would be interested in what we consider American Values.

Could 2012 be America's Last Presidential Election? By Michael Savage
I've asked this question to a number of people and most of them respond as if I were crazy. They tell me that this is America, land of the free, and that there will always be elections. I tell them that we are no longer the land of the free and that if Obama gets Re-elected in 2012 that this just may be America 's last election.
In the past three years, the Obama administration has been very carefully crafting the nation for a political take over by his Marxist regime and this isn't just my opinion.
Popular radio talk show host (of the Savage Nation on the Talk Radio Network), Michael Savage, is the son of Russian immigrants and is very familiar with Soviet and European history. Savage warned his listeners this week saying, "I have to tell you that if this man, God forbid, is the next president of the United States, we're going to be living in something along the lines of - people say - Europe. I don't believe it's going to be like Europe - I think it will be closer to Chavez's South American dictatorship.
"This is the most corrupt, incompetent, dangerous tyrannical administration in American history. It's not politics as usual. It's not just Democrats versus Republicans. Obama has a long history of being at odds with American values and with America itself and the core principles of this country. They don't want government-sponsored opinions. They only want government-sponsored 'Pravda.' That's exactly what the government-media complex tells you on a daily basis - nothing but the government-media complex party line. Pay attention! Your freedom may be at stake!
Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum told a small group of people in an Iowa coffee house that "Barack Obama is not incompetent, ladies and gentleman. He knows exactly what he's doing and why he's doing it. He sees America differently than you see America."
[Obama] has gone out of his way to divide this country in a way I haven't seen since the Great Depression when Franklin Roosevelt went around to divide his country. That's his hero. What makes America great [in Obama's mind] is that the government takes money from somebody and gives it to somebody else. No, that's what makes America, France.
"With his control over the Executive and Judicial branches of the government by Executive Order, the stage is set for a complete takeover of the government. Think about it! Since taking office, instead of helping the economy, Obama has purposely escalated the economic crisis by plunging the country into unprecedented debt. He has a number of programs that are designed to go into effect in January 2013, just in time for his second term of office. The economic burden and increased taxes on everyone will be enough to cause the final economic collapse of the country. As soon as that happens, Obama declares Martial Law and assumes dictatorial control of the nation.
The Department of Justice has already been subverting federal laws to strip us of a number of freedoms. The Supreme Court and many of the other federal courts have been seeded with socialistic liberal judges that will rule in Obama's favor on virtually anything, thus ending constitutional rule and law.
He's already changing the face of America 's military. Allowing homosexuals to openly serve along with changing the retirement program is causing many conservative military leaders to resign commissions and leave the military. Some Pentagon officials are also noting that an increase in the enlistment of radical Muslims into the US military where they get all the training they need on weapons and defense systems. We have no idea how many of them there are in the armed forces or in what positions they may hold.
Obama has been wielding executive powers this past year as if he were already a dictator. When Congress is not doing his bidding, he simply bypasses them and uses an executive order to accomplish it anyway. This has set the stage for his disbandment of Congress. He would not be the first world leader to take control of a nation and disband the legislative branch of government.
He has been effectively using the media to anesthetize the public to the dangers he poses. Like a patient being prepped for surgery, people are numb to the changes and won't have a clue what took place until they wake up in recovery and realize that free America has been removed and replaced with a regime that may parallel those of Stalin, Lenin, Mussolini, Hitler, Chavez and Castro.
For the sake of our children and grandchildren, I earnestly pray that we are spared from what seems a certain future and that Obama is overwhelmingly defeated in 2012. Otherwise, heaven help us.”

"The Patriot Act is probably one of the most controversial pieces of legislature in American history, an acronym that, for all the old and new security bureaus, Provides Appropriate Tools Required (to) Intercept (and) Obstruct Terrorism. But the tools included in the bill weren’t – and still aren’t –considered appropriate by many. Wiretaps and electronic surveillance were legalized. Arrests were made on a daily basis. When the number of those detained reached 1,200, officials stopped counting. Personal records no longer remained personal – and that was only the domestic beginning.
Officially, 1,200 special interest detainees were held and investigated under the Patriot Act. The Justice Department examined more than 700 of them and none were ever linked to any terrorist group or plot."

This 28-minute video from Rand Paul has too much common sense. Janet Napolitano and her TSA wouldn't allow Rand Paul's radical views to override the clarity that she and Obama have demonstrated.

Quit trashing Obama's impressive accomplishments
Here is a list of some things that Obama has "accomplished". It could be expanded to include his disregard for the Constitution, his spending and ruining the US economy, his letting illegal aliens into our country, his shabby treatment of the military and veterans, his war on the Catholic church, his love of Islam, his support for same sex marriage, his love of homosexuality, and on and on. Every time I think I'm done with this sorry list I think of several more items to add. You readers can too, I'm sure. Thanks George for the article.

First President to by-pass Congress and implement the Dream Act through executive fiat.
First President to order a secret amnesty program that stopped the deportation of
illegal immigrants across the U.S., including those with criminal convictions.
First President to demand a company hand-over $20 billion to one of his political appointees.
First President to terminate America's ability to put a man in space.
First President to have a law signed by an auto-pen without being present.
First President to arbitrarily declare an existing law unconstitutional and refuse to enforce it.
First President to threaten insurance companies if they publicly spoke-out on the reasons for their rate increases.
First President to tell a major manufacturing company in which state it is allowed to locate a factory.
First President to file lawsuits against the states he swore an oath to protect (AZ, WI, OH, IN).
First President to withdraw an existing coal permit that had been properly issued years ago.
First President to fire an inspector general of Ameri-Corps for catching one of his friends in a corruption case.
First President to appoint 45 czars to replace elected officials in his office.
First President to golf 73 separate times in his first two and a half years in office, 90 to date.
First President to hide his medical, educational and travel records.
First President to win a Nobel Peace Prize for doing NOTHING to earn it.
First President to go on multiple global 'apology tours'.
First President to take a 17 day vacation.
There's an election coming up... I hope you remember this list when you vote! That's IF he allows the election to take place by not declaring martial law.

NDAA - Part II
Tim Watts NDAA - Part II. Fascinating historical reading which wasn't covered in your high school history books. The Rothschild bankers keep coming up in the stories of presidential assassinations.

'Those beguiled by the lie [the controlled news media] staunchly refuse to listen to those trying to awaken them, instead resorting to obtuse slander and half-witted accusations of "conspiracy theory." This term has to be the most intellectually deficient argument ever concocted, for it is in itself extremely ignorant and devoid of reason, totally forsaking the evil aspect of man. Those who stoop to such a moronic rebuttal try to infer that conspiracy does not exist. Instead they are quite willing and content to accept horrific high crimes of state as mere coincidence, refusing to accept that two or more persons could ever come together to commit such elaborate criminal ventures. These people can best be described as fools and "coincidence theorists."
...
We have but six corporations that own our entire media system. This essentially means that we have six CEO's who tell us what truth is and what news is.
...
Much of the initiative and language of the amendment was redundant and already covered under the previous aforementioned Acts, however, the new amendments added a disturbing twist that the other bills did not contain, the usurpation of the Posse Comitatus Act by allowing military intervention on domestic soil to allegedly combat terrorism. As a result American citizens are now threatened by a US military which is meant to protect us.
...
They can promise us all they want about not using this against American citizens, but the fact is, they have this power now, and power given is seldom ever relinquished. It is dangerous to give politicians absolute power over the people. As the old saying goes, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Just as Hitler had his Enabling Act, so now does our government have the same power.'

The USA PATRIOT Act Was Planned Before 9/11
By Jennifer Van Bergen 20 May 2002. The Patriot Act passed in the hysteria following 9/11, and it looks like Bush had a political machine working in the White House on the Patriot Act similar to Obama's machine working on the NDAA over the Christmas holidays.
Bruce
'Many people do not know that the USA PATRIOT Act was already written and ready to go long before September 11th. Recent criticism of Bush's admission that he had received warnings only weeks before September 11th has made it more important to understand the origins of the USAPA.
...
The troublesome provisions proposed by Reagan and the first Bush included the resurrection of guilt by association, association as grounds for exclusion or deportation, the ban on supporting lawful activities of groups labeled terrorist, the use of secret evidence, and the empowerment of the Secretary of State to designate groups as terrorist organizations, without judicial or congressional review.
Despite the Reagan and Bush proposals and one-sided hearings, there was broad-based opposition to such legislation. According to Dempsey and Cole, "several members of the House Judiciary Committee, both Democrat and Republican, questioned the need for the legislation." Lawmakers repeatedly asked why new legislation was needed and how it would help. Administration witnesses literally refused to answer lawmakers' questions, finally causing Representative John Conyers to exclaim, "I've never seen this much law created as a result of prosecutions that we agree worked very effectively!"
"The legislation languished and seemed headed for defeat," say Dempsey and Cole. Until Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma City bombing, for which there exists a significant body of evidence of a shadow government operation, was used as justification for the enactment of the very provisions lawmakers had previously found most constitutionally troublesome.'

NDAA - Part I
This is a long read from Tim Watts about the NDAA, the Patriot Act and the War on Terror. General MacArthur is quoted because his concerns are valid today.

"That Niemoller moment I've been warning about is coming folks. I will be stunned if we get to see the next election, let alone a Ron Paul candidacy. If he does get to run, they will surely try to rig the election, as they did in 2000 and 2004. They don't want to risk losing the fascist state that they've put in place while the rest of this country was busy watching dysfunctional reality TV and FOX news. I very much hope that Paul will win, because I'm still looking for the hope and change we were promised in 2008. So far the change we've gotten isn't offering us much hope. We need the courage of Kennedy to return to us once again.

First, they came for the Catholics - Michelle Malkin
This heading intrieged me, because it was said in Germany about the rounding up of the Jews. A law would be passed and certain groups would suddenly be illegal. The people would be jailed and sent to the death camps in boxcars on a one-way train trip.
There are similarities in this country, starting with the NDAA bill that Obama recently signed into law on December 31, 2011, and his renewal of the Patriot Act that he assured us he would not.
Early in Obama's phoney presidency Michelle Malkin wrote a book, "Culture of Corruption: Obama and His Team of Tax Cheats, Crooks, and Cronies."

'This weekend, Catholic bishops informed parishioners of the recent White House edict forcing religious hospitals, schools, charities and other health and social service providers to provide "free" abortifacient pills, sterilizations and contraception on demand in their insurance plans -- even if it violates their moral consciences and the teachings of their churches.'

Secret panel can put Americans on "kill list'
I never thought I would have seen this in our formerly great country. Perhaps in Germany during Hitler's regime but not in the USA during Obama's regime.
Bruce
'In the aftermath of the signing of the NDAA by the traitorous President Obama, some citizens remain completely hoodwinked by the language of the bill, running around the internet screaming that the law "does not apply to American citizens."
...
As everyone who studies history well knows, the Patriot Act already establishes an "existing authority" that anyone suspected of being involved in terrorist-related activities can be arrested and detained without trial. If you don't believe me, just Google it yourself. This is not a debated issue; it's widely recognized.
Furthermore, President Obama already insists that he has the authority to kill American citizens merely by decree! As Reuters reported on October 5, 2011, a "secret panel" of government officials (who report to the President) can decide to place an American citizen on a "kill list" and then murder that person, without trial, without due process, and without even being arrested. (http://www.reuters.com/article/2011...)
Importantly, as Reuters reports, "Two principal legal theories were advanced [in support of the kill list authority] -- first, that the actions were permitted by Congress when it authorized the use of military forces against militants in the wake of the attacks of September 11, 2001."
Are you getting this yet? So the authority ALREADY exists for the President to order the killing of an American citizen. All that is required is that they be suspected of being involved in terrorism in any way, and not a shred of evidence is required by the government to support that. There is no trial, no arraignment, no evidence and not even a hearing. You are simply accused and then disappeared.
...
So then, you might be wondering, "What kinds of activities could get me accused of being involved in supporting terrorism?"
And here's the kicker, because all the following activities could cause you to be arrested, detained, interrogated and even murdered all under U.S. law, thanks to Obama:
• Criticizing the federal government.
• Using cash to purchase things.
• Storing food and medical supplies.
• Owning a firearm and storing ammunition.
• Standing still and minding your own business near a government building.
• Writing something down on a piece of paper near a government building.
• Using a pair of binoculars.
• Protesting for animal rights in front of a medical lab.
• Protesting your government (or Wall Street).
• Requesting to take more than a couple thousand dollars out of your bank account in cash.
You see, under existing authority, you could be labeled a "terror suspect" for engaging in any of these activities, and then LEGALLY arrested, detained, interrogated or even killed by the U.S. government, all under Obama's authority (or whatever next President takes over in Washington and perhaps does far worse things with that power...)
...
Get this through your heads, folks: to properly understand the NDAA (or any other bill), you have to learn to think like lawyers and tyrants.
They don't just put language right out in plain view that says, "Americans may never be arrested or detained without due process." Instead, they create a web of legalese statements that are cross-referenced, paraphrased and specifically engineered to obfuscate their intended purpose. This is designed to hide their true intentions, not to make them clear.
...the NDAA really does apply to you, me, and all our neighbors and friends. In signing it, Obama has cemented his place in history as the enabler of government-sponsored mass murder of its own citizens.
History does repeat itself after all, huh? Hitler, Stalin, Mao and now "Obama the enabler." While Obama himself probably won't engage in the mass murder of American citizens, have no illusions that a future President will try to use the powers enacted by Obama to carry out such crimes.'

The NDAA repeals more rights - Ron Paul
Between the Patriot Act and this one, your rights as a citizen are evaporating. We should have learned from history not to ignore the signs of descending into totalitarianism, as a treasonous Congress gives up our rights to Obama and indirectly to his puppet master George Soros. The one world communist government has taken a giant step.
As a veteran, I am very concerned about the direction that our country is headed and the blissful ignorance of most of our people.
Bruce
"The dangers in the NDAA are its alarmingly vague, undefined criteria for who can be indefinitely detained by the US government without trial.
...
This means the president’s widely expanded view of his own authority to detain Americans indefinitely even on American soil is for the first time in this legislation codified in law."
...
A reader comment from Martin, "None are so blind as those who will not see... the connection with this and like legislation and the FEMA concentration camps now built and being staffed..."
...
A reader comment from Bisley, "While Ron Paul is certainly not right about everything, he's dead on with this one. There is no question that the Constitution doesn't allow government any such powers as these, regardless of the morons in Congress and the White House who approved this, or the politically motivated judges, who might find it Constitutional.
This law gives the federal government the powers of the Soviet, or Nazi secret police, to drag people off the street, or out of their beds in the middle of the night, never to be heard of again. The definition of "terrorist" will become much more flexible, but it won't matter anyway, since there is no legal recourse they'll just deny any knowledge of the missing. No government can be trusted with this sort of power; it will eventually be used against political enemies and then against anyone that the government of the day finds bothersome.
The nation is in peril, until this is repealed. As long as this power is available, someone will use it, maybe against real terrorists at first, but there is no way to confine it to that. Every law should be written with the expectation that your worst enemy will be in charge of enforcing it, because some day he will be."
...
A reader comment from Robert Zraick, "I sometimes am amazed that there are still people who do not get this. I know it is difficult for sane, honest and ethical people to understand the motives and actions of insane, subhuman sociopaths, traitors and criminals, but this denial will destroy us.
I am not running for office so I can say things which Dr. Paul cannot say. So let me be clear, we are living in a corrupt police state. Not moving towards it, but in it now. Our freedoms and protections from tyranny have already been stripped away. Not eroding... GONE.
Our current President is insane. He is a Marxist Leninist. He has more tyrannical powers than almost any previous tyrant in the history of civilization. Far worse than Hitler or King George. Our government is corrupt with very few exceptions. Obama is bought and paid for by the Banking families who mean to make the U.N. into the seat of a one world tyrannical government, so that they can kill the strongest and the weakest of us, and enslave the rest.
Stop believing the liars. Stop thinking that the government is our friend. Stop living in denial and stand up for your lives, now, or lose them. Do not think that succession will save you. Do not think that leaving the country will save you. Do not think that being quiet and doing nothing will save you. It will not.
The only thing which will save you is to stand up to tyranny. To restore the rule of law. To restore the republic. We are at a crossroad in history.
Make no mistake about it.
Do everything you can to support Ron Paul."

A reader comment from drtminer, "Remember in 2009 when MIAC published a paper on terrorism? Within its content was a warning to be on the look out for people driving around with Ron Paul bumper stickers on their vehicles.. According to MIAC, opposition to world government, NAFTA, federalization of the states, and restrictive gun laws are a threat to the police. Today we have NDAA... Will Ron Paul be one of the target residents?"
...
A reader comment from George, "The American Public are far too concerned with American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Air Jordan Tennis Shoes, Play Station Games, consumerism and the "me" of life, that unfortunately they will have no clue as what is happening until the Military UN Truck pulls into their neighborhood and starts to gather up the masses for their extermination at the FEMA Camps. These laws are not their to help the poor during a catastrophic event or economic collapse, The camps are their to exterminate the population. Otherwise, there would be absolutely no reason in the world to put a law in place which allows the military to pick people up and detain them indefinitely (death) without charge or even letting anyone know that you have even been arrested.
With a sad voice, I must say that America has seen it's last days and the American people are just a matter of disposal at this point in time. The powers that be and the NWO have won, hands down. There are no more patriots who will take the necessary steps to stop them. You can only fight evil with evil. Evil does not understand the voice of decency."

NO, I will NOT comply! Period.
In the 1930s, Hitler took over Austria and Hungary with incrementalism against the Jews, very slowly like the Fabian Socialists operate. Every day, life for the Jews got worse, but only by a little bit. Then came crystal night and much worse. Thanks Michael Badnarik for the history lesson.
Note how there are many forced changes today on our life style under UN Agenda 21 and the EPA to fight global warming. Is your right to carry a firearm infringed upon? How about your rights under the Patriot Act? Complain early about an intrusive government while there is still time.
Oops! There is no time left for you if you are on a secret government suspected terrorist list. But you won't know that.

Patriot Act: 'Extreme Prejudice'
This 11-minute video of Susan Lindauer says a lot about our government. Be glad you haven't been imprisoned under the Patriot Act with few legal rights, if any.
Bruce
'Susan Lindauer was jailed in a Texas military prison for a year under the Patriot Act before the charges against her were dismissed.
She was unable to know what the specific charges were against her or who made them under this perversion of US Law.
She wrote about this experience in the book, 'Extreme Prejudice."'

"Extreme Prejudice", by Susan Lindauer
This is a book I have started to read. It shows how dangerous the Patriot Act and an unrestrained government can be. Susan was a CIA "asset". There is an audio of a radio talk show host interviewing Susan Lindauer (39 minutes).
Bruce
'EXTREME PREJUDICE delivers a high tension expose of the real facts surrounding the CIA’s advance warnings of 9/11 and Iraq’s contributions to the 9/11 investigation. For the first time, it discloses the existence of a comprehensive peace framework before the War, which would have accomplished all major U.S. objectives in Baghdad without a single casualty.
