There is tremendous potential in years to come for governments to misuse this possible knowledge to change people's acceptance or rejection of ideas, start wars, racial conflicts and the could be no limits to what ideas could be controlled. Maybe it won't be necessary to tell people that they are being manipulated either.
I am reminded of how many people were restrained in mental institutions in Russia because they didn't agree with how great the ideas of the communist party were. In other words you were declared insane and imprisoned if you disagreed with the wonderful Communists and the wonderful lives that central government planning would provide. The key was CONTROL. Control of people's thoughts is what they wanted and got through physical imprisonment.
I remember when computers were new to our government research in the 1940s and 1950s. They were huge, taking up entire rooms tor the Central Processing end the Memory and Storage Units to process very simple instructions. That is the case with this research now, but look at how small and powerful computers have become, for example cell phones, GPS, laptops.
If our government is looking into this isn't it possible that Russia, China and others are too?
