Not Without My Daughter

My wife and I watched this movie starring Sally Field last night. It is a keeper, and it is based on a true story, with Sally playing the part of Betty Mahmoody.

Betty is married to an Iranian doctor and they have a daughter, about 6 years old. He promises her that all will be OK and not to worry if they visit his family that he has not seen for 10 years. The truth is he doesn't intend for them to come back to the USA, ever. He keeps all the cash and passports and she has no money, no friends and no rights, with the oppressive power of the police state behind her husband.

Some Amazon reviews say it isn't historically accurate, but I think the oppression you feel is quite real from the ever-present machine guns in the vicinity. Also, the native women in his family are always watching her, which is the main point.

As I said in an earlier post, the outcome that Muslims want is for life in the USA to be eventually all Muslim and for Shariah Law to replace the Constitution. This is a timely movie to see.
