How Many Constitutional Freedoms Do We Still Have?

I received a reference from Edward to a terrific database named “Washington’s Blog.” It covers many topics, and what caught my eye was “How Many Constitutional Freedoms Do We Still Have?”

I’ll get to the link shortly, but first here is an Overview for New Readers and a brief discussion of love and freedom and how they can affect your courage and your bravery to do the right thing when things are not going your way.

Thanks very much Edward. This is long read but well worth the time.

Overview for New Readers of Washington’s Blog

Washington’s Blog strives to provide real-time, well-researched and actionable information.

We at Washington’s Blog have an insatiable curiosity for new discoveries, new information and new insights.

Despite our passion for what’s new, there are themes that we keep reporting on year after year, as they reflect a bigger picture which remains fairly constant, or the root causes of our problems which have still not been addressed, or potentially powerful solutions which have still never been tried.

For example, we note again and again that government leaders are doing all of the wrong things for the economy, and that the economy cannot fundamentally stabilize – and we cannot regain prosperity – unless:

§  The giant but insolvent banks are broken up

§  The endless wars are stopped (contrary to widespread myth, war greatly weakens our economy)

“Remember that the mother bear is one of the fiercest animals of all. Just get between a mother bear and her cub and you’ll see what I mean. It is her love of her cub which gives her the heart to face any enemy when her cub is threatened. It is not her level of testosterone, but rather her love for her cub which makes her so fierce.

Just as discipline is more than just willpower, courage stems from something bigger than just cojones. In fact, the strongest courage comes from the love of something we care about, since our heart will sustain us even when the chips are really down and we are really up against a tyrant. As the ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said: “Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage. “

In addition, we’re no longer living in the old west. Individualism is very important in numerous ways, but we can only win against the tyrants as a team, as a community, as a nation. And only by opening our hearts to what matters will we be able to work together, to fight for all of our kids, and all of our freedom. Only then will we be able to put the crooks and the looters and the tyrants back in the box.”
