It's best this cleanup is done quickly. Way too much time has been wasted so far. Get rid of him and his phonies as soon as possible. Start this afternoon and don't stop until you're done with all his followers. I think life imprisonment for him would be appropriate.
This is just my opinion. But why wait until he can sneak off someplace and miss his penalty?
