Cash for Codgers

Turn in the elderly for cash. What a concept. Why didn't I think of that? 5-minute audio.

'On Thursday, the highly anticipated Supreme Court ruling on the Obama health plan was delivered and by a 5-4 margin the court ruled the plan was constitutional under the taxing power of Congress.

The Capitol Steps offered a health-care reform plan of their own that was patterned after the popular “Cash for Clunkers” program. It’s called “Cash for Codgers.” Our guest is Steps writer and performer Mark Eaton.'

Unexpected turn in eligibility case: 'Put it on record!'

It looks like this case may move faster than expected. Whichever side wins though the other side will appeal. I'm glad that Larry Klayman is on our side.

'The attorney in a publicized challenge to Barack Obama’s eligibility to be president told WND the Florida case took an unexpected turn in court yesterday, one he says “pulled the rug out” from Obama’s lawyers and should force a quick answer from the judge.

Attorney Larry Klayman told WND he had expected an “uneventful” hearing in the ongoing case, which returned before Judge Terry Lewis yesterday, but instead found a legal tangle that he believes means Lewis will “have to make a decision, have to put it on record.”'

Why I Carry a Gun!

My old grandpa said to me 'Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's when he becomes too old to take a butt whoopin.'

I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

Police protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take a whoopin'.....'

Sen. Rand Paul on Consumer Choice in Energy Committee Hearing

Senator Rand Paul is on a tear lately. Now he's saying to the EPA you busybodies are in my house deciding what light bulbs I must buy and what type of toilet is best for me. And you are using the law to enforce your opinions. The problem with the toilet is it is not saving energy if you have to flush it multiple times to get it to work. What you are doing to us is restricting our choices by regulating the market and sending jobs overseas. Why don't you make EPA compliance voluntary based on sound reasoning and not on fines and penalties if our opinions don't match yours? 6-minute video. As usual, the comments written by readers and viewers are interesting.

"Sen. Paul questions the Department of Energy's commitment to protecting consumer choice during consideration of Appliance/Light Bulb Energy-Efficiency Legislation."

"You have to run around in the shower just to get wet, low flow showerheads SUCK.

Go get em Rand. Bureaucrats need to stay the hell out of our lives. This once great nation of ours is overrun with a bunch of dictatorial departments and IT NEEDS TO STOP NOW....

New light bulbs are SUPPOSED to last 5 years, THEY DON'T. LED bulbs cost FORTY DOLLARS A PIECE. Everything that is supposed to save us money, COSTS MORE MONEY. WHERE ARE THE SAVINGS???

Rand Paul Tears Dem Senators A New One

What common sense! Rand Paul wants everybody to have enough time to read what they are voting on.

'Senator Rand Paul gave a scathing rebuke of Senators on Friday voting on bills that they have yet to read. As evidence of what he was saying, he held up a what looked like an entire ream of paper and declared, “For goodness sakes, a six hundred page bill and I got it this morning. Not one member of the Senate will read this bill before we vote on it.”'

Chief Justice Roberts: It's Not A Tax, It Is A Tax; It's Law, But It's Not 'Unlawful' to Break It

This reminds me of trying to make sense of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum in Alice in Wonderland. Senator Rand Paul says flat out the Supreme Court is wrong and I agree. Those duds and their liberalism should go pound sand.

'Roberts thus concludes that because Congress calls the penalty for not complying with the individual mandate a “penalty” not a “tax,” the "penalty" therefore is not a "tax."

“The Affordable Care Act does not require that the penalty for failing to comply with the individual mandate be treated as a tax for purposes of the Anti-injunction Act,” writes Roberts. “The Anti-Injunction Act therefore does not apply to this suit, and we may proceed to the merits.”

Got it? The chief justice of the United States says the penalty for not obeying the individual mandate is not a tax, it's a penalty. Therefore, the court can rule on it at this time.'

When Hell Was In Session

"When Hell Was In Session" is the title of a book written by a Navy pilot whose plane was shot down over North Vietnam in July 1965. Back in those days we were fighting *against* Communism, not embracing it a la Obama.

This quote is from Amazon.com:

“In When Hell Was in Session, Jeremiah Denton, the senior American officer to serve as a Vietnam POW, tells the amazing story of the almost eight years he survived as a POW in North Vietnam. In 1966, he appeared on a television interview from prison and blinked the word "torture" in Morse Code, confirming for the world that atrocities were taking place in the Hanoi Hilton. And while in prison, he acted as the senior officer and looked after the morale of his troops at great risk to himself.

After his release in 1973, Denton was promoted to rear admiral and in 1980 won election to the United States Senate where he worked with President Reagan to fight communism in Latin America.”
